Haji-baba a Middle Eastern in Tempe

The best place in town for Middle Eastern food. I've been going there for over 20 years and always good. If you like lemonade, make sure to get their home made rose water lemonade.

Delicious, inexpensive food served inside a little Middle-Eastern store. Can be a bit crowded at busy times. All in all, a wonderful place to grab lunch.

Combination grocery store and restaurant. We almost always get the Gyro platter with Tabouli on the side, both are very authentic and very good. This is one of my top 3 go to places for lunch in Tempe. There are other traditional Mediterranean items of the menu that all look tempting. I will be back there again for sure!

A very cost effective lunch and dinner options restaurant. It serves a variety of kabobs and shawarma. Their Irani tea is pretty popular and people like it. The chicken and rice were cooked perfectly and service is good. You may also purchase any Mediterranean grocery if you like.

Probably the best Middle Eastern food around the area. I have been here more than once during my stay in Arizona and I will probably come here anytime I come back. The food and the service were really great. They multiple kinds of baklava that I liked. I highly recommend this place. Authentic 👍🏽

Have not been here in years. Took my family tonight for the first time and was just as pleased as the first 100 times I've been here. Great service, food and the baklava is amazing!

If you love cooking and trying new foods, you should try their restaurant. I have been here numerous times and try something new each time. I can't leave without at least spending $100 on the aisles, even after I just ate.

Authentic Mediterranean food and grocery store. Very friendly service and lower price than similar stores in the area. This is by the way, the very first Mediterranean store in Phoenix metro area.

Best middle eastern food I have had in a long time. Highly recommend. I had the gyro platter. So delicious. Hummus is authentic and fresh. The baklava is to die for!

Food was excellent, I ordered the Sultani. Service was disappointing. My server only came by once after bringing the food, I was there an hour, very frustrating. When you drive 40 min to a restaurant, you expect some decent service.I planned on ordering more food and Arabic coffee but nobody ever came by.

Personally, the best Mediterranean food and greatest servers in the area! Gyros, chicken shawarma, kibbi, falafel sandwiches or plates, baklava, hummus freshly made and fresh hand made pita bread, yummy! Store attached and plenty of choices to buy at a competitive price.

This Mediterranean food was delicious and the guy working the register was super friendly and helpful, he made us a recommendation on what to get. It was a bit pricey but certainly worth the price for this kind of quality.

Food was pretty good here. Small restaurant seating area loved shopping here also. We will definitely be back to eat again.

The attached grocery, scent of seasonings and the delightful Hajji Baba entrees, desserts and drink selections, via the Middle Eastern & Mediterranean region, transports one to a bazaar of yesteryear, with warmth, generosity and consideration from familiar faces & the marinated blessings and love delivered in the variety of dishes.

Amazing stop in for a quick lunch. The service was fantastic, and the quality matched. The staff answered all of our questions, provided thoughtful recommendations, and packaged it all without an issue. The gyro meat was top quality, and the chicken shawarma was another highlight. The associated store had a ton of unique food, sauces, spices. Highly recommend to stop in and give it a try!

So this is a regular go-to for lunches while at work. There are very few authentic Lebanese places in Phoenix. Hajis is just as good as any of the local places that you’ll find in all over the Mediterranean and Gulf regions. The kafta is amazing and the half restaurant and half middle eastern convenience store is affordable and fun. The wait staff is awesome! Go early, because it definitely fills up at lunchtime.

Love this place. They have excellent selection of spices, European and middle eastern food as well as sweets. They also have a restaurant there. Fabulous food. Another important part is the service. All the men that work there are polite and professional as well as kind and funny. Their mother should be proud. (Think its family owned)

I loved this place! It's really awesome. The food is great, service is excellent and inexpensive for generous portions. We went on a whim while looking for something off the lightrail, so glad we tried it. Gave the Arabic coffee a try also, man was it delicious!

Got the chicken shawarma and it was awesome, definitely gonna go back with friends/family...and so many good chocolate candy choices there too!

Dear Haji Baba, I miss you MOST about living in Tempe. BEST food I've ever had anywhere.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars. I've been here many times. The food is delicious and the service is fast. The last time in particular, we got two huge plates of food within 3 or 4 minutes of ordering. It was awesome.

Hands down best chicken shawarma in the valley. You don't want to go anywhere else, trust me. :-)

This place is awesome!! The portions are great for what you pay, and the food is authentic and delicious! Also their grocery store has very cheap prices on spices and Middle Eastern food which is a plus! I will be back!

Best hummus in town! I also love their falafel, it's crispy on the outside but still soft and moist inside. They have a fantastic vegetarian plate, if you prefer meat, the chicken kabob plate is great.

My husband took me here because it was were he first had a gyro. Let me tell you... AMAZING!! Bug chuncks of meat...super stuffed really yummy. I was getting full from just half the gyro and I didn't even get a combination plate. The staff was great kind and helpful. I would definitely be going back.

We always come and enjoy our meal at here when we come to Arizona. It is that one place we always look forward to and are never disappointed. It is truly one of those hole-in-the-wall finds we were lucky enough to stumble upon. The food is fresh and fast, servings are generous and service is friendly. The prices are fair and the dining area is clean. If I could give 6 stars I would.

Soooo very delicious. My kind of place to eat, but be careful. Portions are generous. Don't order too much unless you plan to take home leftovers.

Everytime I come here I'm never dissatisfied or disappointed with the food or service. I always get the gyro plate and it's since of the best gyro in the area. You'll get a filling and quality meal without paying an arm and a leg. Very much worth it.

Stepping into this grocery store / restaurant is like stepping into another culture entirely. It's a very neat experience, and the food is authentic. I recommend the chicken shwarma plate. It's very filling and a unique taste that will have you coming back again and again!

I've been eating at Haji Baba since the early 90's and the quality of food continues to be excellent and the prices have barely changed. The meats are seasoned to perfection and their hummus is creamy and delicious. The service is quick and efficient. I've been doing take out and just call ahead and order.

The staffs are so friendly. The food? Totally incredible! I went here twice, and it made me want to go here again and again!

Nice and clean Mediterranean store and mini restaurant all combined in one, clean areas friendly staff exotic food and products at decent prices. Definitely it's worth at least one visit. In my case I'll check back when I'm in their area.

Great place to sit down and have a meal. Prices are very low and affordable. The only downside would be the noise. During lunch hour it's very busy and very very loud due to that. Otherwise service was quick and food was soooo delicious. I'm coming back for sure. There's also a store to buy some things from the middle East I think.

Food here is Mediterranean style. Great flavor and we'll presented. This is a family run business that includes a small grocery outlet. The ambiance is minimal, service was fast and pleasant. If you are a foodie this is a fun place to visit

I stopped by today because I was in the area. I mainly go in for the sandwiches... My go-to Mediterranean crave the last 25 years. They have the Best Gyros Deluxe sandwich you will find, Period! Chicken Shawerma is on point too. I don't know the names of all the dishes and appetizers but I've ordered most of them over time. Everything is very authentic and flavorful. Don't forget to pick up a baklava for dessert.
